Objectives
Develop the necessary skills to install composite decking and cladding correctly to specifications, tolerances and guidelines, as advised by the industry and manufacturers.
Course Content
- Introduction - Delegates understand what a composite product is
- Benefits of Composites
- Delegates understand the features and benefits of composites versus other materials eg wood
- Manufacturing process - Delegates understand the manufacturing process and the content of what makes a composite product
- Common faults - Delegates understand the common faults associated with this product
- Expansion and Contraction
– Delegates understand expansion gaps required for composite products
- Calculating Materials Required
– Delegates understand how to calculate materials required for installation of decking and cladding
- Support structures - Delegates understand how to construct a sub frame for decking and a support structure for cladding
- Cladding round corners and windows
- Delegate understand how to install cladding round corners and windows
- Post options for fencing
– Delegates understand the post options for composite fencing
- Installation - Delegates can install a basic design for decking and cladding following instructions given to industry standards
- Decking edging and fascia’s
- Delegates understand and can install edgings and fascia’s for decking
- Maintenance - Delegates understand the maintenance involved with the product, including aftercare tips
Learning Outcomes
- Be able to construct a support structure for decking and cladding to manufactures specifications and guidelines
- Be able to install cladding round corners and windows to manufactures specifications and guidelines
- Be able to install decking, cladding and fencing correctly to manufactures specifications and guidelines
- Be able to install decking edgings and fascia’s to manufactures specifications and guidelines including how to do a mitre joint
This is a one day course that takes place at our Training Facility in North Lincolnshire.
